What does SEER stand for?

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. It is used to indicate the efficiency of air conditioning systems. The higher the SEER number, the more cooling you get per unit of energy. From the 1st of January 2023 onward, the SEER rating will be replaced by the SEER2 rating. In Hawaii, the minimum SEER rating in 2023 will be increased from 14 SEER to 15 SEER. AC units with 45,000 BTU or higher cooling capacity will have a minimum of 14.5 SEER rating in 2023.

Do I really need a preventative maintenance for my air conditioner?

An air conditioning preventative maintenance and inspection will help catch service problems before they occur. Many breakdowns occur on the hottest day of the year — because that’s when your air conditioning or refrigeration system is under the most stress. And because a tune-up ensures that your system will run at peak efficiency, you’ll lower your electric bills. A system that’s running efficiently can save you as much as 20% on your energy costs.
